Exhibition Opening: Bonnie Patton - Prefixation

The second exhibition of the Spring 2011 semester will be Bonnie Patton's Prefixation. The opening will be taking place tomorrow, Wednesday February 9 at 4:30 p.m.

Exhibition Opening; "On the Button", presented with trap\door ARC

Time for the third show of the year! the niche gallery proudly presents, along with trap\door artist run centre, "On the Button" - an exhibition of community made buttons.

Many were made during this past fall's ArtWalk, so come see what the community was making! Opening reception takes place this Wednesday, November 10 at 4:30pm. Hope to see you there!

Opening of nibble/GNAW: October 13

The 2nd exhibition opening of the Fall 2010 semester is titled nibble/GNAW, featuring the work of Cindy Gauthier. The opening is tomorrow at 4:30pm in front of the gallery. The exhibition will be running until November 5.

The Language of Menstruation

The first show of the school year at the niche gallery is Nicole Lalonde's "The Language of Menstruation", running from September 13 to October 5, 2010.

"The niche gallery is set within the institution yet works outside the institution"

"The niche gallery is a place for anyone to show their work, whether it is a student, faculty member, or someone outside of the institution. The plexi-glass door also allows the viewer into the space as well, a space that is normally private. With niche gallery, the text panels are placed outside of the interior space because the gallery itself is art. When the niche gallery is between exhibitions, the space is still open. Although the space is empty, it is full. When another artist places his/her work in the space, it creates collaboration between the space and the artwork, between the artists and the viewers. Each piece has its place and remains separate, but also works together. There is a difference between inside and outside, but they co-exist"
